You inwardly admire his penchant for fitness and health. But when he outdoes his passion for fitness by interfering into your food habits and life style you are naturally irritated. In fact he enrages you by making negative comments about your appearance.
You appreciate his desire to be healthy and fit. But his obsession in maintaining a fit body makes you go crazy when he forces you eat foods you dislike. ‘It is free from calories’ he insists.
He makes you wild with anger when he compares your rather flabby physique with that of his shapely female friends\ colleagues.
His freakish concentration about his body does not have any direct adverse impact on your marriage as such. But it can make your co-existence very tiring and boring.
Why does his liking for fitness make you angry and resentful?

As I always say, marriage needs many tiny aspects to make you happy. It is small things that bring great happiness into your married life. And it is small and silly mistakes that make your relationship uninteresting and tiresome.
Being too much of a fitness freak is one such needling and prickly aspect!
You are agitated and edgy against your husband when his whole interaction with you is about health, calories, exercises and fitness.

How does he show his craze for fitness?
- He advices you about how much calories you should consume.
- He makes negative comments about your flabby body.
- He spends lot of money on gym or exercise equipment.
- Your cooking comes under a scanner- the worst part of his obsession.
He criticizes the way you cook.
Your efforts to satisfy his stomach never materializes as he is busy calculating the calories he is consuming.
- Too much oil, how can I eat this.
- Steam cook the food as it consumes less oil.
- Vegetables should be eaten raw.
- Why don’t you Google and cook healthy food?
Cooking instructions! Cooking interference!
You are exasperated, irritated and annoyed by your husband’s obsessive concentration on calories!
How exactly does your husband affect your happiness by being obsessed by his physique and the food he eats?
- His always diverts the conversation he has with you towards food.
- He goes blah-blah about exercises.
- He insists you eat only food with less calories.
- He becomes a bodybuilding gadget freak.
- He is too concentrated on maintaining good physique than on spending quality time with you.
- You lament that he is depriving you of your favorite food.
His obsession for fitness makes you literally want to yell at him. He eats food you painstakingly cooked for him counting the calories in it. No appreciation! Just calorie counts! You just do not know what to cook for him.
When your husband becomes freakish about the calories he consumes, you hold your head in exasperation. His health consciousness slips into health freakishness making it irritating and maddening to co-exist with him.
He is not satisfied by eating a healthy diet. He also thinks that doing exercises at home is just not enough. He visits gym to maintain his body. He gets carried away by the ads about exercise gadgets and buys them. He never thinks of the cost it involves. You fume inside when his buying spree cuts into the financial aspect of your family.
When he is too conscious of his body, he becomes a little too criticizing of your physique. He thinks you too should look slim and attractive.
A fair enough wish!
But if you have a naturally plump body you resent his untoward comments about your physical appearance.
Does that mean your husband is wrong in being health conscious?
No, not at all!
He is very right in noting his calories and weight. But when he becomes too conscious about it you are unable to cope up.
This instigates many unnecessary arguments between you. Your husband lives in his world of health, calories and fit body. You resent his attitude thinking that he is a selfish husband who thinks only about his health.
What should you do to handle your fitness freak husband?
- You too should be health conscious.
- Avoid bakery items, red meat, aerated drinks and junk food.
- Your cooking should be nutritive and nourishing.
- Regular exercises are very good for your health.
You should an active participant in his eagerness to be healthy.
Health is the most wanted blessing in this modern world.
Many new illnesses are all related to your food habits. So, it is very essential that you cook healthy food for your family.
Health is the mutual need for your family. When your family is healthy it gives you incredible happiness and confidence.
When even a single member of your family suffers from ill-health your total life is shattered.
You should be encouraging to your husband’s endeavor of maintaining a fit body.
But anything which exceeds its limits is very tiresome and tedious. Too much of concentration on fitness by your husband is also draining.
You should make your fitness freak husband aware that his efforts of being healthy has your approval. But his obsession is just not your cup of tea.
