Do you know you should teach your children certain important characteristics which mold them into good human beings?
If you do not teach your children they will never understand the true vales of life.
The story of the honest woodcutter who was rewarded the golden axe because of his honesty was told umpteenth time by my grandmother. So the essence of honesty was inculcated in my mind from my childhood. Such is the power of moral stories.
But today you do not have time to tell moral stories to your children. Nor they have the patience to listen to them.
You are busy with your hectic work schedule. In the process you forget that your children need your attention and care to mold them into future good human beings.
You want to give the best in everything to your children. And they have all the latest technologies which the yester generation could not dream of.
Mobile phones, iPods, laptops, internet connection, swanky vehicles – you name it, they have got it.
But they sadly lack proper guidance from you as a dutiful parent. It is not enough if your children possess the best things in the world. It is essential that their personality is properly chiseled at a very young age itself.
Top 5 important characteristics you should teach your children
1. Honesty is still the best policy
Honesty is an important criterion of a good human being.
Teach your children the essence of honesty when they are very young.
They are good imitators. They always imitate what you do. If you tell them lies they are clever enough to find it.
They wonder why they can’t lie too.
Never make false promises to them. Keep up promises you make to them. It makes them trust you. This trust makes them imitate your honesty.

These are habits which make you start for work without any tension and delay.
Your children easily embed these habits which makes them time efficient and work efficient as they grow up.
3. Mold them to respect others.
Some rich parents bring up their children as if they were some prince or princess. They buy them costly things and they travel to school\college in swanky cars. These children mingle only with children of their status. Finally they grow up to be snobby and arrogant. They also grow up thinking they are some super human beings.
Never ever do that. Arrogance can isolate them from others.
You should teach your children that high social status is just a means to buy things and not a weapon to hurt others.
4. Let them be confident
Do you spring to help your children on problems they can solve themselves?
Do not do that.
When you solve their problems they will never evolve and mature into a confident person.
You should give them only emotional support.
Let your children learn from their mistakes. Let them learn from trial and error what is good and bad for their life. This makes them very confident and assertive.
Do not lead the life of your children. Be their staunch guide but never their problem solver.
An appreciated child becomes confident in the future. Whereas an abused child develops several complexities which make his future bleak.
When you appreciate your children for their small success, it motivates them to do better and better.
Build their confidence level from their childhood itself.
5. Teach them the value of money
Your hectic lifestyle makes you drained and tired. You do not have the energy to spend quality time with your children.
You feel guilty about it, don’t you?
You want to lessen your guilt. So you buy whatever your children asks you. They possess costly mobile phones, latest vehicles and other luxurious things at a very young age.
You are doing a very dangerous thing.
Your children grow up without knowing the value of money. They think everything can be had easily. But sadly earning money is not easy.
Buy only what your children need. Tell them that they can buy even more good things when they earn their own money. Always explain to your children why you are not buying them the things they ask for. They always listen to reasonable explanation.
